Celebrating several stories in 1 book...

Woohoo, I'm still in a party mood 🎉🥳 - is that allowed? 7 days and counting...? Oh who cares, it's fun!

Today I'm celebrating three wonderful novels that are made up of several different stories.  The first is:

‘It’s a stray dog’s life’ is a charming book for children, featuring three stray dogs and the adventures they encounter.  It tackles some tricky subjects but with such a skilfully light touch that they’re very accessible. Why not read the interview and review in full (click here)

My second book is completely different!

Larry's book is full of fresh, realistic stories that don’t shy away from tough subjects and he has created an array of memorable protagonists. I asked him for a tweetable-sized extract of one of his favourite parts of the book and he says (tweet here):

‘On this Friday evening of summer, I find myself strolling streets of Stockholm. No plans on how to pass the night, dreading the thought of going home alone.’

Talk about value for money - 29 short stories all with gory themes! The compilation is highly entertaining with each story being unique in style, content and length.

Celebrating crime novels so far...

Woohoo, I'm still in a party mood 🎉🥳 and today I'm celebrating the two wonderful crime novels I've featured so far. They are very different from each other and are written by two very talented writers. The first is:

Helen's book was the third in a series of  her ‘Burrowhead Mysteries’ novels and to give you a flavour, I said, 'To give a quick overview of the series, the stories are seated in the crime/ supernatural genre and take place in the northern coastal village of Burrowhead.'

My second wonderful crime novel is:

This was Tom's first novel and it was converted from a short story he'd written 14 years ago! He says:

‘Turning my short story into a novel was something I’d always wanted to do, but never thought I’d get the time. However, when I moved from the UK to USA, my work permit was delayed due to covid and I had time thrust upon me. I decided to use that time to finally start writing my novel.’

Celebrating the non-fiction titles so far...

And so the party begins!🥳🎉😊 To celebrate the first 6 months of Tweetables, I'm going to run some feature blog posts to highlight some of the brilliant books I've reviewed 🥳

I'm starting with two wonderful non-fiction titles. Both of these writers are experts in their fields and it shows in the quality of their work. My first is:

Amanda's brilliant exercise book is aimed at seniors because all of the exercises are seated - click here to read the interview and book review in full. As I failed Amanda's balance test at the front of the book, I benefited from the exercises, as did my test subjects in their 50s, 60s and 70s, so it's well worth taking a look to see if you have any friends and family who might benefit too. In overview I said:

'I found the book quite a page-turner and I think anyone interested in health, no matter what their age, would enjoy reading this.'

“Chair Exercises for Fall Prevention” is a #book geared for #seniors or adults who want to work on their #balance but need a break from standing #exercises

My second fabulous non-fiction title is:

Toula's excellent workbook is aimed at getting you to recognise the positive things in your life. With world news seeming to revel in reporting doom, gloom and misery, it’s trickier than ever to remain upbeat but the genius of this book is realising that so much good happens daily but you don't always recognise it at the time. Celebrating 6 months and 12 wonderful books!

 

You'll have to indulge me a little this month, as it's been 6 months since  Tweetables launched and I'm in the mood for celebrating what an amazing adventure it's been so far!

 

12 wonderful authors have given their time so graciously and allowed me to ask them any questions. All, without fail, have been so generous and such a delight to work with - I'm so grateful for their time and in awe of their talent.

 

Then there are the 12 amazing books that I've had the privilege of reading. Fiction and non-fiction, in a wide variety of genres from crime to horror to kids - what a wild ride!

 

So I'm going to use the next couple of weeks to celebrate what's been achieved so far, signposting you to interviews you might have missed. Then we return to business as usual in the middle of September, with the next book review/ author interview (and spoiler alert, it's just been  shortlisted for an award, so it's another cracker!).

 

And talking of usual, I am changing the blog format slightly going forward. I've realised that reading 2 books / interviewing 2 authors a month is a little more time-consuming than my life allows. So, big announcement, from November I will feature one book review/ author interview at the start of each month, with a second author interview (no book  review) being featured in the middle of each month. This revision will allow me a little breathing space, as it's been a crazy-busy 6 months but it's been worth it. My blog stats tell me nearly 11,000 people have visited the blog so far, which is phenomenal. Thank you so much for your support, I'm truly humbled.

The only 'issue' I've encountered is the commenting facility within  Blogger's software. I'm blown away that there have been more than 100 comments left, but saddened by the emails and private messages from people who have struggled to leave a comment. So, to make like easier going forward, I've decided to take commenting off but please continue to leave comments on Twitter. I love the feedback (and so do the authors!).

Thank you for your support and do keep a watch out for posts over the next couple of weeks, there are some fab interviews that you might have missed the first time around. Now, where's that Prosecco..... hic!
